Travellers to the USA on and after 12th January 2009 must be aware
of the new visa waiver scheme. All visitors to the USA will now have to apply
for authorisation to travel to the USA before arriving at a US airport. Having
been voluntary since August 2008, the changes are now mandatory. All affected
are advised to obtain authorisation, known as ESTA at
https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov. The application process takes between 15-20
minutes and once granted is valid for two years. It is advised that passengers

LUFTHANSA ITALIA TAKES TO THE SKIES
From 2009, Lufthansa will run its new Italian airline brand Lufthansa Italia
between European cities and Italy providing both business and economy flights
with a difference! Flights will all be operated by Italian flight attendants
and customers will enjoy Italian delicacies on the noticeably Italian in flight
menu. Within the UK, a London Heathrow- Milan Malpensa route is set
to begin at the end of March with connections to major European cities.
EMIRATES LAUNCH AIRBUS ON HEATHROW FLIGHTS
 On
December 1st, Emirates launched the Airbus A380 on routes between
London Heathrow and Dubai. The aircraft boasts seats are on two
levels, comprising 14 first class suites, 76 business class seats and 399
spaces in economy and shower spas in first class.
